Chemical Peels Little Rock

Little Rock Oculoplastic & Facial Cosmetic Surgeon

Overview

We have many different options for chemical peels. Dr. Brock will evaluate you to determine which is best for you. The chemical peels Dr. Brock offers reverse sun damage and improve the quality of your skin so that it looks and feels both new and fresh.

Types of Peels

  • Light Peels such as Glycolics, Tricloroacetic Acid (TCA)10-15%, Jessner’s 14%, Salicylic 30%
  • Medium Peels such as TCA, VI Precision (30% phenol), &Hetter (30% phenol with croton oil)
  • Deep Peels such as TCA 35% &"Phenol Chemabrasion" (an award winning peel developed by my friend and colleague, Peter Rullan, MD in Chula Vista, California) for Deep Wrinkles and Acne Scars

Glycolic Peel

Glycolic peels are the mildest form of chemical peels, which exfoliate the surface layer of skin to expose the fresher, younger-looking skin beneath. It improves dry, thin wrinkles under the eyes and adds glow to the skin by adding fresh collagen and better hydration. This is often used for a “lunch-time” peel, because treatment time takes about 10-15 minutes. This peel freshens and tightens the skin. It should be considered a maintenance peel.

Salicylic Peel

Salicylic peels are ideal for skin that shows signs of aging, sun damage and the effects of acne. These peels can be customized in strength to be beneficial treatments for wrinkles, pigmentation issues and blemishes on the skin. Dr. Brock uses them most often for melasma and adult acne. Salicylic peels are typically used to treat the face and neck, but they can safely be applied to any problem area of the body including the chest, back, hands and shoulders. Dr. Brock recommends these in a series of 1 peel per month for 5-8 months. Treatment time takes about 15 minutes.

Jessner’s Peel

This Salicylic, Lactic and Resorcinol peel produces a drying exfoliation which then peels a thin amount of skin a few days later. It helps dry out acne, reduce acne scars and pores, and helps rejuvenate sun-damaged skin. This peel can be applied to the neck, chest and arms. For a deeper effect, Dr. Brock frequently uses this in combination with TCA (aka. “theMonheit peel”, developed by Gary Monheit, MD, a world-renowned dermatologist in Birmingham, AL who Dr. Brock had the honor and privilege to work with closely during his fellowship).

TCA 10-15% Peel

TCA peels are considered superficial or medium-depth peels that treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems. At concentrations of 10-15% it is a superficial exfoliating peel and is the preferred chemical solution for darker-skinned patients. It may be used on the neck and other areas of the body. Multiple treatments may be required. Treatments only take 10-15 minutes, and recovery time is fairly short.

ViPeel™ & Vi Precision™ Booster

The ViPeel is an advanced chemical peel that combines unique ingredients to produce significant results with no pain and minimal downtime. Patients can enjoy smoother, fuller and more vibrant skin after just one 20-minute treatment session, which can be repeated regularly to prolong results. The ViPeel can be used to effectively treat the skin of the face, chest, hands and more. The ViPeel has been shown to be effective in all Fitzpatrick skin types (light skin to darkest skin). Treatment time takes about 15-20 minutes. On average patients peel about 3 days after the peel and are finished peeling by day 5 or 6.

TCA 35% Peel

This peel is a very effective peel that extends it’s effect into the dermis. Studies have shown it to be more effective than many popular prescription medicines or other treatments in eliminating signs of photo-aging and pre-cancers (actinic keratoses). Dr. Brock frequently uses this strength of TCA in combination with a Jessner’s peel (see above). Patients benefit from light oral sedation, topical and local anesthetic when this treatment is given. It is no “lunchtime” peel. Patients can expect to be red immediately. This is followed by some feeling like a sunburn for a few days prior to peeling on day 5-7 or 8 typically. The peeling is over by day 8-10 for most patients and they can experience new, soft skin.
