Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty Little Rock

Little Rock Oculoplastic & Facial Cosmetic Surgeon
Cosmetic lower blepharoplasty is a highly effective procedure for reducing the signs of aging or familial traits in the lower eyelids. Patients who seek cosmetic lower blepharoplasty in Little Rock frequently confide that their eyelids make them look old or tired. As you age, the skin around the eyelids loses collagen and forms wrinkles. In addition, the eyelids can bulge forward. Often, a deep groove forms between the eyelid and cheek. If you already have dark circles, the groove can accentuate them. These very common aging features can create a distraction from an otherwise beautiful face.

Why Choose Dr. Brock for Your Lower Blepharoplasty?

Many doctors still think a good lower eyelid blepharoplasty means only taking excess fat or a lot of skin. Board-certified ophthalmologist and facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Wade Brock recognizes that youthful eyelids require a healthy, supple appearance so that the eyelid and cheek blend gracefully into one another. There are very few surgeons who are equipped to confidently and efficiently restore these youthful features. Dr. Brock is considered by many to be the best lower eyelid blepharoplasty surgeon available. He understands that an excellent lower eyelid blepharoplasty is restorative of your youthful properties. Dr. Brock performs this procedure with a transconjunctival blepharoplasty. In this procedure, Dr. Brock places a small incision on the inside of the lower eyelid. He gently removed some fat. He also repositions some of the excess fat into the groove between the medial eyelid and cheek. In select patients (those with significant loss of volume from familial traits or previous surgery) this is augmented with fat grafting or cheek implants. This restores the youthful transition between your eyelid and cheek. Although many patients will not need an external incision, in some patients with excess skin, this procedure can be enhanced with a tuck of the skin, a laser, or a chemical peel, depending on the individual. For those with lax eyelids, tightening of the lower eyelid tendon may be indicated. These maneuvers, selected mindfully to cater to you specifically, provide the best opportunity to restore a youthful and attractive appearance to your lower eyelids and face.

The Healing Process After Surgery

Once your lower blepharoplasty is complete, you can return home to rest and recover. You will need to arrange a ride home in advance from a friend or a family member since you will not be able to drive yourself home. You will need to follow Dr. Brock’s post-surgical care directions closely while you heal. This will ensure a minimal chance of complications and a shorter period of downtime. Your eyes will frequently be dry during the healing process. To address this, eyedrops or artificial tears will be prescribed. Protect your eyes from wind, sun, and pollution by wearing sunglasses whenever you are outside. Avoid overexposure to the sun, and make sure to apply proper sunscreen. Bruising and swelling will also be present in the area. These can be addressed with the help of cold compresses. Once all the swelling has dissipated, you will be able to see the full results of the procedure.
